Fatigue crack-growth predictions for a railway axle under material data variability

Abstract This document reports a probabilistic approach for residual fatigue life predictions of cracked railway axle with allowance variability the input data. A NASGRO formulation was used such purpose, its main parameters considered as uncorrelated random variables varying in given ranges. load spectrum order to take into account actual loading conditions that these components undergo. The presented aimed perform terms both mean value and dispersion around it. results were also drive deterministic approaches calculating conservative crack-growth assessments.
